In psychology, social psychology is the methodical study of how people 's thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are subjective to change by presence of others. Social psychologists study how an individual’s or a group’s viewpoint is changed by the social influence and communication of other individuals and social groups.Social psychology is commonly known as a scientific study of people and their relations with other people. The key is to emphasis on how individuals build humanity and how they form social behaviors by relations with other individuals, how they behave, and their natural science.Social psychology is the scientific study of how we affect each other by anything from what we say or do, to the simple act of our presence. From this descriptions it is clear how social psychology is often seen to overlap with sociology and indeed explains why many of its roots are there.
My understanding of social psychology is about understanding ourselves, people and the social interaction of people every day. It contributes to our thinking of what we expect from other people and how we react in regards to how we treat them and ourselves. We as individuals need to understand the behaviours of individuals in a social environment.The essay will then conclude by summarising the essay and how both approaches can work together to bring a varied and whole view of social psychology. According to Allport (1985) social psychology is interested in how the social environment and group interactions affect people’s attitudes and behaviours.
