The Church’s social teaching is a rich treasure of wisdom about building a just society and living lives of holiness amidst the challenges of modern society. In this essay, five sources of Catholic Social Teaching will be highlighted. Regardless of any factors or reasons we can think of, individuals have an inherent and immeasurable worth and dignity; each human life is considered sacred.
Catholic social teaching is a central and essential element of our faith. I learned that and many other things while taking this course. The first thing I learned from catholic social teaching is the four types of justice. The four types of justice are commutative, distributive, legal, and social. Commutative justice is the justice of exchange.The Catholic Church teaches seven principles of social teaching, and in those teachings are the dignity of a human being, call to a particular group or family and to participate, rights and responsibilities, giving to the wellbeing of the poor, dignity and rights of workers, solidarity, and lastly care for god’s creation.
